The Club Calendar
Use it to your advantage!

In order to provide "something for everyone" the Club endeavours to maintain a balanced program of events - bearing in mind the range of invitations offered to members through the club via other clubs and promoters. A comprehensive list of all events, in which members can participate, plus other events of interest is included in the Calendar of Events for this year.  The 'Calendar of Events' can be accessed by 'clicking' the '2008' button to the left.

Club events for 2008 can be accessed by 'clicking' the red 'Maserati' button to the left.

Entry Forms for club events and a range of track and rally events can be obtained from the Download pages.

Given the diverse interests of members the types of events offered by the club are listed below, with each type linked to further information.

Types of Events

No matter whether you have more interest in social events or track events, or whether you prefer to use your car actively or passively, you should find something in the Club's Calendar of Events to interest you ... even if its only to keep tabs of when and where the next F1 race will be held.

Breakfast or Lunch Runs:

Usually over interesting roads within two hours travel of Melbourne to good quality but modestly priced restaurant. We try to run about 3 of these each year.  They are popular events and give members who have cars running on Club Permits the opportunity to get their car on the roadTO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Week-end Away: A social event which we try to run once a year If the calendar permits. Usually, this event is planned for the end of January, or in early February each year, when the calendar is relatively freeTO TOP OF THIS PAGE.TO 'Type of Events' LIST

Formal Dinners We run two of these each year: The Grand Prix Dinner and Awards presentation is run on the Thursday night prior to the Formula One  Australian Grand Prix and the Xmas Lunch which is usually conducted at a leading Melbourne restaurant on the first Sunday in December.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Mid-Week Luncheons: We run two of these, both of which are very different. The Annual Club Lunch which is held on a Friday during July.  It features a guest speaker and is a great way to have lunch and spend an afternoon, if you can arrange it.  Recent events have been held at a range of leading restaurants in Melbourne. The second event is the Grand Final Lunch, which is held on the eve of the  AFL Grand on the last Friday in September. In recent years this event has been held at 'The Swallows' in Port Melbourne and Jimmy Watson's in Carlton.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Club Track Days: We endeavour to run at least three and usually four track days at different tracks, where possible, in the course of the year. We run these events to include a driver training component to give you track time so you can decide how far you want to take your track experience.  The Members Practice Day at Phillip Island in January, the Grand Prix Track Day at Sandown in March/April, the Winter Track Day at Winton in June, the Trident Track Day at Sandown/Calder in August and the Annual Spring Track Day in October are the principal.  These days are regarded as amongst the best club days conducted in Australia.TO 'Type of Events' LISTTO TOP OF THIS PAGE

Driver Training The club no longer runs days specifically for driver training.  However, the morning sessions of club track days provide a session specifically for circuit familiarisation and training with instructors who can provide guidance on braking, turn-in points and the correct lines to enable you to reduce your lap times.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Other Club Track Days: The Club regularly receives invitations to attend the Track Days of other clubs.  We give you advice of these days and provide you with entry forms, where they are available.  In addition to the two of three Club Track Days, you can go to as many as 10 to 15 others put on by other Clubs including:   Alfa-Romeo, Ferrari, Jaguar, MSCA and PIARC. With experience at these events, you can consider more competitive options.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Gymkhanas: The club no longer conducts Motorkhana or Autocross events.  Some clubs specialise in such events - check out, the CAMS website.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Tarmac Rallies: Whilst the Club doesn't organise these, we try to keep you informed of your options, which include such events as Rally Tasmania, Classic Adelaide, Targa Tasmania and Grand Prix Rally.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Hill Climbs: We don't run one, so we try to advise you of your options.   We try to keep you advised of hill climbs which are open for members at Mt Leura, Morwell and Rob Roy.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST

Concours: The Club no longer runs a formal concours event.  The President's Day and the various club Lunch Runs are intended to be occasions, when the very many different makes and models owned by Club members and those from other Clubs have the opportunity to look at the cars and enjoy the social occasion. For those members that are interested in displaying their car in more formal concours, keep your eye on the club calendar as we try to highlight such events when they are known to us.TO TOP OF THIS PAGETO 'Type of Events' LIST
