Brief History:
Included in the production of the Tipo A6GCS Series II were six specially bodied cars - 4 coupes by Pininfarina (PF - pictured) and spyders by Frua and Vignale.  These six cars have a fascinating history as research conducted by Barchetta shows.    

 

#2049:  
Vignale Spyder
Built in 1953. Rebodied by Scaglietti as a spyder in 1955.
#2054:  
Frua Spyder
Built in 1953. Fate of chassis unknown, but body placed on Triumph chassis powered by Triumph engine, offered for sale by MIE in 1999.
#2056:  
Pininfarina Coupe
Built in 1953. Crashed by Garvina during Giro di Sicilia in 1954, killing co-driver.  Returned to factory where it was abandoned. De Tomaso instigated front end repair and restoration by Campana in 1991. Owned by Panini since 1996.
#2057: 
Pininfarina Coupe
Built in 1954.  Shown as two-tone blue coupe at Turin in 1954.  Rebodied as spyder in 1955 and renumbered to #2086.  Body acquired by Franco Lombardi in 1977 and restored on chassis #2070
#2059: 
Pininfarina Coupe
Built in 1954.  Shown as red with white stripe at Paris Salon in 1954. Painted white after sale in 1955 and fitted with A6GCM engine. Found in US by Novak painted red. Car acquired by Sydoric. Shown at Pebble Beach in 1999 in unrestored condition. Now restored and acquired by Erich Traber, CH
#2060: 
Pininfarina Coupe
Built in 1954.  Red with Blue stripe.  Converted to spyder by Fiandri, date unknown. Replica body made in England and painted Silver and owned by von Donhoff.  Original body was used on chassis #2089 which had crashed in 1955 and the 'new' PF is now owned by Boris Subbotin.
#2070 Built in 1954 as Spyder for Anna Maria Peduzzi. Subsequently engine went to #2090. Received PF body from #2057. Engine in car not known. Owned by Franco Lombardi
#2089 Built in 1955 as Spyder for Francesco Giardini and had active competitive history until it crashed in 1955.  Received PF body from #2060.  Car featured on cover of Road & Track special issue in 1980. Now owned by Boris Subbotin
