Notes
The third version of
the 350S no 3503 was initially fitted with an in-line 6 cylinder engine
and it had benefited from the improvements made to no 3502 which mirrored
the 450S with the gearbox in a longitudinal position ahead of the
differential and with a modified front suspension geometry The car
in this form competed at the Thousand Kilometres of Buenos Aires in 1957
and gave an honest account of itself with Piotti/Bonomi. On its
return it was fitted with the 3490.5 cc V12 and although lined up at the
start of the 1957 Mille Miglia with Hans Hermann was forced to retire with
an engine failure. It returned for qualifying in the Nurburgring
race and in the 500 Mile of Monza and later at Nurburgring in 1958.
In the meantime it had been overtaken by the 450S.
