Brief History:
The first production car of this new rear engined car appeared before the end of 1960 and was in fact a Type 61 four cylinder engine of 2890.3 cc inclined at an angle of 58º .  However the Type 61 was designed for the V12 from the 250F T2 which included many refinements and a displacement of 2989 cc.  The chassis was the same as the Type 60 and 61 with attempts to reduce weight further, helped of course with the elimination of the drive shaft  In 1961 cars were entered in events by the Camoradi, Serenmissima and Cunningham teams, but the results were disappointing.
