Notes

Faced with the success of the Tipo 26M in the 1930 season, which annoyed the 'big' firms of Alfa Romeo et al and in the first part of the 1931 season although competitive, Maserati no longer enjoyed the previous year's success.  Alfieri Maserati responded with the Tipo 8C 2800 by increasing the bore of the 26M and in collaboration improved the fuel feed to produce over 200 bhp.  Fagioli drove the new car to a win in the 10 hour French GP at Montihery and at Monza.  Due to Alfieri's death the car was run again in the 1932 season.
