Brief History:
The 8C T/A as conceived by Alfieri in 1931 and construction started at the end of that year's racing season.  The 2500 cc eight cylinder engine was installed on the special frame inversely to normal with the compressor between the driver's legs and the gearbox, which was operated by a long lever toward the front of the car.  Under the radiator at the front of the car was the differential grouping.  The front axle with independent wheels and hydraulically operated brakes was perhaps the most innovative aspect of the car.  Fagioli ran comparative road tests of the car vs the 26M which proved promising, but Ettore Maserati on a test drive after his brother's death had an incident with the car whilst testing and came to rest in a cemetery - the fate of the car was sealed.
