The Vignale spyder
released in 1959 and was immediately received with great enthusiasm.
Similarly to the 3500GT the initial carburettor version was upgraded to
the GTI version utilising indirect Lucas injection. The spyder was
built on a shorter wheelbase than the 3500GT and was not of 'Superleggera'
construction. Vignale adopted the shorter spyder wheelbase in
the construction of the Sebring series. In this gallery we also have some
photographs of chassis no 678, which was one of two prototypes developed
by Vignale prior to the production of what became the 'standard'
model. The story of the restoration of no 678 and some additional
photographs may be found in 'Restoration
Corner'.
