| Allemano, Bertone,
Frua, Ghia, Monterosa, Pininfarina, Touring all tried their hand on the
5000GT, the first two models of which were derived directly from the
450S and still retained the gear driven camshafts from the racing engine.
The first 5000GT was created specifically for the Shah of Persia who
had been impressed by the 3500GT and wanted something similar befitting
his position. Three 'Shah of Persia' models were produced by
Touring. The first two cars manufactured can be regarded as the first
series as they retained the dimensions of the 450S and its gear driven
overhead camshafts. Subsequent models commenced what could be regarded as the second
series and included a similarly powered, fuel injected engine of different
dimension with chain driven overhead cams Allemano became the favoured coachbuilder, building most
of the 32 cars manufactured, |
