| Released at the
Geneva show of 1971 the Bora, designed by Giugiaro who had also designed
the Ghibli, was not released to the market until the end of the
year. Initially powered by the 4.7 litre V8 it was given the 4.9
litre V8 in 1976 at which time the horizontal grille to improve cooling
was added to the front bonnet. The Bora was the first mid-engined
Maserati production car. A special
version of this car was built for the French Dealer Thepenier for the
1974 Le Mans Group IV category, but the car was deemed ineligible prior to
the race. |
