Ferrari assumed
management control of Maserati in July 1997 and the closure of the factory
followed shortly thereafter. The 'Evoluzione' series of the Quattroporte
were produced following the refurbishment of the factory in the period
November 1997 through May 1998, during which plans for the production of
the 3200GT were finalised and the production of the V6 and V8 versions of
the Quattroporte IV were reviewed. The Quattroporte leaving the
factory since its reopening in May, 1998 earned the label
'Evoluzione". In a story in 'Car Magazine' in
July, 1998 Richard Bremner accompanied the article entitled "The Rebuilding of Maserati"
with a number of photographs of the Quattroporte - V8 Evoluzione. Richard's story
was based on his visit to the factory in May, 1998 shortly after it was reopened having
been shut down three months after Ferrari took over. The full story may be found in
the Maserati Pages. The photographs here include, the photographs used
in that article - plus four factory shots of the revised car.
