The Maserati 3200GT has seen frenzied levels of sales
right around the world since its release in 1999. This saw Maserati
produce a record 1851 3200GTs and Quattroportes in 1999. Even
greater levels of growth were experienced in Australasia, with sales
increasing by a staggering 177% in 1999. This makes Australasia the tenth
largest market in the world for Maserati.
The year 2000 is set to be the most significant year
for Australia as well as Maserati. Australasia was the first region in the
world to see in the Year 2000 and of course the new millennium. Sydney and
the whole of Australia will also be showcased around the international
stage with the upcoming Olympics. To celebrate the significance that
Australia and the year 2000 plays in the world of Maserati, Maserati S.p.A.
has given to Australasian Maserati/Ferrari importers Maranello Imports
Pty. Limited, the 2000th 3200GT produced.
To celebrate this special occasion, National Sales
& Marketing Manager for Maserati Herbert Appleroth flew to Modena to
collect the keys from the International Director of Sales for Maserati
S.p.A. Dr. Neville Woodcock.
Mr. Appleroth said, "It is incredible to think
that it was only 2 years ago that these factory floors were completely
bare, and now Maserati has produced its 2000th 3200GT. It is
befitting that Australia is receiving the millennium Maserati, as
Australia is the key for so much of the international spotlight during the
year 2000".
Chassis No. 2000 will now be flown out to Australia
where it will be on display at Melbourne Maserati/Ferrari dealer, Lance
Dixon Prestige before it undertakes an Australia wide public relations
tour on the road.
