| The
club has become well known for its interesting and pleasant lunch runs.
Details of the events may be found in the club
newsletter, The President's Notebook and in summary form on the Booking
slips. |
The Entry Form or Booking slips for
each event is made available on this site and can
be accessed via the 'Quick Access' page. Several of these
events are to be conducted during the course of the year, they usually adopt the following
format:
- Central Meeting point: We usually
meet at a nominated cafe or at The Swallows for a cup of coffee prior to 10.00 am on the
Sunday morning. For those who like to get on the move a little earlier, a good breakfast
can be obtained by arriving at the selected departure point a little earlier.
- The Run: Usually of about two hours
duration and may include a stop for morning tea or coffee. The route is typically
straightforward with some devious twists incorporated by some of our better rally
navigators. You must also remain awake during the drive as there are normally
questions concerning the locations through which you pass on the way to your final
destination. These events have proved to be lots of fun, involving all of those in
the car.
- The Lunch: Always held at an interesting
location, with something more to offer above the fine food and wine. We like to
think that the site of the luncheon will prove to be a memorable destination, that you
might like to return to on some future occasion. The location is selected so that
you only have a return run of one hour or less back to Melbourne.
- The Weekend Away: In recent years
devised by John Hardy the 'Weekend Away' involves travelling to a
location in country Victoria for a dinner and accommodation on the
Friday evening. The Saturday is devoted to touring the region an
sampling the highlights: restaurants, vineyards, historic buildings and
sites returning for a major dinner on the Saturday evening. Sunday
involves the trip home with a stop on the way at a prominent regional
restaurant.
