| It would appear that the
success of Rowan Harmans Tour de Course and Jeff Duttons withdrawal
from the Grand Prix Rally has led to some quick thinking and the search
for a vacant spot on the crowded motorsport calendar. Sam Beck with
assistance from many well known names including that of Danny Loypur have
conceived a new rally event which despite some obvious comparisons to the
Tour de Course promises to be an event with a difference. No navigation,
concentrating solely on performance events. You can enter the event by
yourself or with a co-driver, whom you can both team with and compete
against. The inaugural event was conducted in 2001 and a report
on that event is on this site. Since inception in
2001, the Dutton Rally has proved to be highly successful. The field
size is limited to around 70 cars and places are keenly sought after. The new format Dutton Rally will be held over the weekend of August 8-10, 2003 and will be based in Shepparton. The rally, with its absence of navigation sections, concentrates on driver and vehicle performance. The event comprises approximately 15 performance events and driving tests at Shepparton Airport, DECA, Winton Raceway, and Calder, with performance the goal. A Saturday night motorkhana is held in Shepparton city centre and proved to be a highlight in the inaugural event. Shepparton Airport is also used as a site for events. Included in the entry fee are all speed events and driving tests, two tickets to the official presentation function, a souvenir video tape, Gourmet Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners daily en-route, and commemorative merchandise.
